Liberty Hall News

News and Events

The Friends of Liberty Hall had a table at the Machiasport Community Yard Sale on Saurday June 15th.  Despite the miserable weather, we had a good day – adding $285 to our funds.  Every bit helps.  Thank you to everyone who supported Liberty Hall through their donations.

The roof on Liberty Hall has been replaced.  Machiasport resident, Caleb Ricker, and his team at Cornerstone Construction completed the work in just under a week.  The record high temperatures slowed progress down for a day or so.  But everyone worked incredibly hard to get the job finished on time.   Replacing the roof was an urgent task if the earlier restoration efforts were to be preserved.  We were exceptionally fortunate to receive a substantial private donation that enabled us to move ahead on this essential work.   We are grateful for this very generous support.    We are delighted to see the new roof on Liberty Hall.  Please check out the pictures.

Over the Fall and winter, Marcia Hayward, the Machiasport Town Clerk and Board member of the Friends of Liberty Hall was exceptionally busy raising funds for the project.  She organized the production of decorative pins of the building, and she made a wonderful range of Xmas ornaments.   There were brisk sales!   We greatly appreciate the support of everyone who purchased these items.  It helps us keep us afloat and our restoration project moving forward.

In February, Marcia masterminded an auction and benefit supper for Liberty Hall, at Fort O'Brien School in Machiasport.   Her call for items to be donated for auction was met with overwhelming support from the community.  Indeed Marcia almost had to move out of her office, so many items came in.

The auction and supper were a great success!    Around 100 people attended and almost $2000 was raised for Liberty Hall

Although specific events are concluded, pins and tree ornaments are

still available at the Machiasport Town Office.

For your spring and summer gardening pleasure our Highway

Department has created (Rustoleum) painted steel lawn stakes.  Choose

from Seahorse, Crab or Lobster!  These heavy-duty items should provide

years of enjoyment and conversation for the whole neighborhood.  They

are $40.00 each or a set for $100.00 and may be seen at Machiasport Town

Office.
